Over 200 organizations voice support to Senate Judiciary Committee
WASHINGTON—As the United States prepares for one of the most consequential judicial confirmation processes in its history, the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), along with other legal and advocacy groups, has signed a letter to members of Congress in support of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to become the ninth justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.
The letter, authored by Americans for Prosperity and co-signed by leaders of more than 200 other organizations, is addressed to ranking Senate Judiciary Committee members Sens. Lindsey Graham and Dianne Feinstein as well as the full Senate, and urges swift confirmation for Judge Barrett.
“It is not often that such a broad community of stakeholders, representing free market, family, faith, education, business, and judicial interests comes together to speak with a clear and singular voice. Now is such a time,” the letter reads. “Because of the judicial philosophy she embraces, the confirmation of Judge Barrett is of critical importance both to our country and to future generations of Americans.”
Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI, was a signatory to the letter along with Lorraine Woodwark, director of Attorneys United for a Secure America, a project of IRLI and an affiliation of attorneys dedicated to pursuing cases that serve the national interest when it comes to immigration law.
“Given her accomplishments and track record on the Seventh Circuit, Judge Barrett is eminently qualified to be confirmed to the Supreme Court,” said Wilcox. “Her originalist approach and reverence for the Constitution will serve the nation well, particularly on the critical issues involving national sovereignty and the safeguarding of rights for American citizens.”
