‘Our country desperately needs an effective physical barrier’

WASHINGTON—The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) has released the following statement on President Trump’s State of the Union address regarding the nation’s immigration policies:

“The President correctly identified illegal immigration as an existential crisis in America,” said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI. “The consequences have been enormous: the loss of life caused by violent crime, the victims of human trafficking, and the flow of illegal drugs to name a few. For some members of Congress to delay action on the border for political gamesmanship is sickening. Our country desperately needs an effective physical barrier as well as a housecleaning of the numerous loopholes and bad immigration laws that harm America and its citizens.”
