Shining a Light on Anti-Free Speech, Anti-Borders, Anti-American Conspiracists

(Washington, D.C.) – On behalf of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) announced today it has filed a lawsuit (attached here) in the US District Court for the District of Columbia seeking records from the Department of Defense (DOD) regarding the agency’s partnership with the highly controversial and inflammatory “hate-watch” organization, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). According to IRLI’s complaint, the agency, which has had a documented relationship with the SPLC for many years, has up until now been unlawfully denying the release of the records.

As part of its ongoing effort to educate the American public about the defamatory tactics of the multi-billion-dollar open-borders lobby, IRLI has requested numerous categories of documents from the DOD related to the SPLC being employed as a race-relations consultant with the agency, among other things. The records-request follows on several others IRLI has submitted to other agencies that work with the group, including the Homeland Security Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

That the group has any relationship with the agency at all should be highly alarming to the American public. Over the years, the SPLC, a public charity that consistently receives an “F” grade from charity watchdog Charity Watch, has been able to solicit hundreds of millions of dollars from the public through highly cynical misinformation campaigns about groups they libel as “dangerous” and “hate-filled”, including advocates for immigration-control such as FAIR. So inflammatory are the SPLC’s assaults on people and groups they disagree with, they’ve been linked to multiple domestic terror-attacks, most recently the attempted massacre of several conservative members of Congress by a man who had “liked” the SPLC’s Facebook page.

IRLI Executive Director, Dale L. Wilcox, commented, “The American public, especially the left-wing elite, simply do not appreciate how poisonous groups like the SPLC are to healthy political debate in this country.” Wilcox continued, “Thankfully, this is changing. As IRLI has documented, the FBI, the Army, and the Justice Department have raised questions about the group’s tactics and more and more news outlets are also now beginning to see the group for what it really is. IRLI’s hard-working staff will continuing pushing forward to make sure that happens.”
