Michael Hethmon, IRLI senior counsel, spoke with Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani of Vice on the issues raised in the Supreme Court decision in Jennings v. Rodriguez, which concerns the prolonged detention of immigrants who are fighting their deportation cases. In February of this year, The Court ruled in favor of IRLI’s position on the issue, that no provision of 8 U.S.C. 1225 limits length of detention to six months, or suggests length of detention should be a factor when deciding on release of a detained immigrant.
